TOPER

last night was a quaint and friendly jaunt into the city, i met some of my old housemates from sophomore year at a bar. i showed up fashionably late (as everyone was getting their main course) and inevitably forced them to stay later than they had originally planned because i hadn’t eaten all day and felt like a burger. afterwards we went to another bar uptown and then i took the PATH back to jersey and tried hitting on the girl sitting next to me but she was even more shy than i am so it proved fruitless. that concludes the livejournal portion of today’s blogging.

today i sent more requests, to secretly canadian, drag city and 90 day men. i’m hoping secretly canadian puts me in touch with jason molina because he’ll have a fascinating take on the state of independent rock music and his place in it i’m sure. drag city is another chicago area label that puts out everyone from ben chasny to will oldham to pajo. 90 day men would be a cool interview, they’ve put out some incredible albums and would count as both a chicago band and a st. louis band, since they moved to chicago in like ’99 or something. here’s hoping for some quick and positive replies.

i have to start getting my shit together and take the car in for service. i still don’t have places to stay. i’m sure everything will fall apart after a seemingly swift and on-schedule commencement. i’ll be a mess by the time i hit texas.
