ADMONITION

A lot of book news to report today, as two new men have given me the proverbial thumbs-up to interview them in the near future.

At the totally un-rock n’ roll hour of 10am I talked with Steve Albini. It’s okay, we spoke over landlines so the conversation was totally analog. I quickly went over the project details with him, since I was hiding behind a desk at work and had no idea if he was even awake prior to my phone call. He seemed interested and said that once I had my travel plans set-up to call him back and he would find time for me. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out there in the next few months. Electrical Audio’s office manager John Novotny mentioned he could put me in touch with one Bob “Rusty” Weston, but that might catapult me into such a dizzying state of indie-rock greatness that my head could explode like that guy in Scanners….

A few hours later I received word from Jim James of My Morning Jacket that he was very interested in my interviewing him. He said he was very intrigued by the book idea and looked forward to helping me in whatever ways possible. This news helped alleviate my fear that the Louisville chapter isn’t meaty enough. I’m very excited about getting the point-of-view of someone who will exemplify the diversity of Louisville’s musicians. As usual, I’ll keep you posted on all book-related happenings as details emerge.

Holy shit. Actual information instead of gay jokes and vulgarity? That’s what I call productivity.

Here’s the first comic strip:

High Art = Dan Zlotsky
Wordsmith = Evan LeVine

    I’m jealous, IIII want to be in a Levine/Zlotsky comic strip!

    I would need to be drawn with a decent nose, tho, or else I’d look just like the hipster.
