Nerding Out About Gear And Social Networking

Hey. Time is running out! Buy something that once belonged to me…These things are going to be priceless someday. And I don’t mean that in the valuABLE sense, but in the valueLESS sense.

I think it’s hilarious that the nerdy goons who created TheFacebook turned down a $750-million dollar offer for their website–they’re looking for two billion dollars–when MySpace sold for $580-million and it gets about five-times the traffic that Facebook gets. Social networking is for geeks and pedophiles. By the way, have I mentioned that for some reason I keep links to my MySpace and Facebook profiles on the sidebar of this page? Apparently I have no shame criticizing a tool that I use countless times every day.

I’m trying to work out a deal for a 1973 Ampeg V-4 head for $200 and a matching mid 70′s 4×12 cabinet for another $200. I think that would be a good purchase. The Fender Twin Reverb is so darn twangy, I could really use something with more bass and mid-range, and the V4 has that in spades. Despite Jet’s constant mentioning that I should invest in a solid-state amp (she’s always going off about HH and quite frankly I’m never going to find a V/S head anyway, so what’s the use in waiting?), I figure it’s a good enough deal for now. Always into acquiring more “things” that will help accumulate various “tones” and “sounds” and junk.

Tonight is Magnolia Electric Co. / Destroyer at The Avalon (formerly Limelight) in New York. If you want to get drinks afterwards, give me a phone call. I’m down for whatever. It’s not like I’ve got a life or anything to be awake for tomorrow morning.
