• What is the world coming to when the following stories were all, at one point this week, the top CNN.com news headlines?:
Without foreign immigration, many metro areas would be losing population
‘Very active’ hurricane season predicted in 2007
Husband kills wife’s lover; wife charged
Every second, approximately 28,258 Internet users are viewing pornography
Florida housing sex offenders under bridge
Hugh Hefner has fond memories of Anna Nicole Smith

• Two New York City record store owners who had to close-up shop wrote an excellent OpEd piece in the Times about how the RIAA has killed the music industry.

A woman in Tacoma, Washington had her house robbed following someone posting a Craiglist ad stating it was open for anyone to come and remove any item from the residence for free. I’ve already conquered the personal ads with my horrendous fake postings, I think it was only a matter of time until I discovered I could put an entire house for sale in the FREE section.

• A geek from New Jersey developed a mathematical model for predicting the final standings for entire baseball seasons based on the performances of each individual hitter-versus-pitcher match-up. The results of his model? The Yankees will win 110 games this year. My prediction? The Yankees will struggle to win 88 games this year. They look that bad.
