A Future Of Stupid Is One Step Closer

A website called Gene Expression has published a new study that tests the relationship between intelligence, grades, and sexual activity. This study builds upon the premise theorized by a study conducted seven years ago that reported: “Higher intelligence operates as a protective factor against early sexual activity during adolescence, and lower intelligence, to a point, is a risk factor” (Halpern, Joyner, Udry, Suchindran, 2000). The new report states that students with higher IQs as well as those with extremely low IQs are much less likely to be virgins than those with average IQs and below average IQs. Does this remind anyone else of Idiocracy? Yeah, me too.

Although much of the research is devoted to adolescents, the study team theorized that the relationship between intelligence and lack of sexual activity continued well into college. An MIT/Wellesley study showed that this is indeed accurate, and IQ is now believed to be related to delays in sexual activity in young adults, too. The report states, “By the age of 19, 80% of US males and 75% of women have lost their virginity, and 87% of college students have had sex. But this number appears to be much lower at elite colleges.” This seems rational, because the really smart kids are too busy studying and being psychologically abused by their competitive parents to focus on socialization. Lucky for me, I was not born of competitive parents, I had no desire to study in school even though I had a high IQ, and I can now count myself among the 80% of US males that lost their virginity by the age of 19. Good job, Evan, I guess you’ve done something right in your life.

The researchers offer this data chart to support their claims. It compares virginity by chosen academic major. As you can see, Communications does not even show up on this list, and English is close to the bottom. I guess “Communications Major” is synonymous with “total slut” at Wellesley, and I’m sorry I didn’t go to school there. But look at the Studio Art major. Not one virgin in the whole college! If any of you kids out there are thinking about going to college in the near future, might I suggest enrolling at Wellesley as a Studio Art major? Jesus Christ, you’ll be swimming in pussy from orientation straight through until graduation! Oh, yeah. And if you choose to major in Math, Chemistry or Biochemistry, you can kiss your dick goodbye for the next four years (and beyond, since you’ll probably go to graduate school, where your odds of getting laid are even worse, I imagine)!

The rest of the article is a bit uninteresting, but it quotes James Watson as stating, “If I had been married earlier in life, I wouldn’t have seen the double helix. I would have been taking care of the kids on Saturday. On the other hand, I was lonely a lot of the time.” And reprints Huxley’s alleged definition of an intellectual as “a person who’s found one thing that’s more interesting than sex.”

The point is, there is no point. I just found this article to be fascinating. It certainly fits the argument for dysgenics that I regularly make (read the archives for stories about Idiocracy, Futurama, and the theory of dysgenics). If those with average-to-below-average IQs are losing their virginity quicker than those with high IQs, it is plausible that they are also breeding more rapidly, and more often. Thus, the negative selection of intelligence seems imminent. Lucky for us, we probably won’t be around long enough to see the world turn to complete shit.
