Apparently I’m not the only person obsessed with the motion picture event known as 3 Fast 3 Furious. You’ll be surprised to discover that while I was reading CNN’s website at 2am this morning, I came across a little article about a car wreck. The car contained the son of one of my childhood idols, Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Bollea). According to CNN, Hogan’s son Nick was driving his Toyota Supra (really? a Toyota?) at high speeds through Clearwater, Florida when the car somehow left the road and wound up hitting a palm tree. A police spokesman said the car was destroyed. Bollea and his friend were extracted from the vehicle by firefighters, and while Bollea not as seriously hurt as his friend, who is in critical condition.
The point is, the CNN article states, “One episode [of "Hogan Knows Best"] documented [Nick's] interest in a type of high-speed car racing known as ‘drifting’.”
Clearly then, we can deduce that Nick Bollea, son of Hulk Hogan, did not care to heed the advice of Han when he told Sean that a person should never enter a race without meaning. If he had listened, perhaps his friend wouldn’t be at death’s door, and his Toyota Supra wouldn’t look like it was driven over an IED. Nick Bollea, a fellow member of the 3 Fast 3 Furious fanclub, acted like Sean before he was known as DK, and brashly risked his life with no reward on the line. You’ve shamed us all, Nick. You’re not fit to carry the Hogan name. [story]
Also, in less exciting L.A.-related news, someone tagged the wall that has become a memorial to Elliott Smith after appearing on the cover of his Figure 8 album (Solutions @ 4334 W. Sunset). I noticed it when I was driving on Sunset towards Hillhurst. I’m not going to lie, I only felt bad for a moment, then I actually giggled a little. People came from far and wide to express love and sympathy — by tagging the exterior wall of a business — and then they all got their words covered up by another tagger. Hilarious, right?
