Hey kids. Today was a long one. Got to work a half-hour before opening to prepare for a big storewide sale, and just walked into Nicci’s place five minutes ago. Some of the discounts were larger than my normal employee discount, so I bought a handful of records that I’d been holding onto for a few weeks. Superfuzz Bigmuff, a Steve Reich record, the first Saints album (I’m Stranded), and a bunch of seven-inch records (Big Black’s Il Duce, Minutemen’s Paranoid Time, two Flying Saucer attack 7″s and a Tortoise 7″). All in all, it was a pretty good day. The store did well, no one seemed overwhelmed by the amount of customers, and there was free food and sodey pop for us.
I think things are going to start settling down again after two somewhat torturous weeks. “A return to normalcy,” you might even say. There are some cool day-trips being planned for the near future, my work schedule should return normal, and I will be in a better mood. So, anticipate a lot of bawdy humor, uncouth remarks, and maybe an intelligently worded social commentary or two.
For now, here’s your new mix tape.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week, we’ll just see what sticks. As always, these songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
