On LOST DVDs and Top Ten Lists

Just a couple quick hits today because I have a busy travel day scheduled tomorrow. Amazon.com held a one-day sale yesterday (December 8th) where you could buy the first three seasons of LOST on DVD for $59. I think the normal cost for all three seasons is closer to $200. If you don’t own all the seasons, this would be a great way to start. Season 4 was released officially today on DVD and Blu-Ray as well. If you don’t want to take my word for it, just ask Podcast Jack about his new LOST obsession. Roughly a week ago he e-mailed me to to say he watched the first season in a matter of days and was on the first episode of season two. Literally, he just e-mailed me to say he’d finished season three. I don’t know whether or not he’s slept this week, but he must be running on fumes by now. He’s so incredibly picky about what television shows (none that I know of, until now!) and films (not many!) he enjoys…it amazes me how quickly he’s gotten through LOST. I defy you to watch the first season and not get hooked.

I’ve been e-mailing back and forth with Vince from Top Ten Top Ten for a few days now, and he has convinced me to start uploading all of my top ten lists to his website. I guess the fun part is that once a list is shared, readers have the ability to vote on lists and edit them. So, basically, all of the top ten lists I’ve written that you don’t agree with will in your hands to alter if you desire. And I can’t do anything about it. It seems like a good way to drive traffic to my site, especially if some of people click through to view my lists and give them all high scores. I’ll be spending the next few weeks uploading the lists (there are well over 100 by now), so make sure you check back for updates on how well or how poorly my lists are performing. Like I said, the better the voting and reader response, the more traffic I will receive. The more traffic I receive, the more outlandish my persona will become. The combination of an enlarged ego and a bigger audience equals a startling new era of utterly asinine blog posts. Everybody wins!

I can only explain my infatuation with LOST (which has UNDER 1000 rankings on imdb.com) as “curiosity related to the whacked out imaginations of the show’s writers”. Thank god there’s a definite termination date to the series, because without it, I would lose a lot of respect for it. Premeditation over masturbation. I have said.
