RULES for uninitiated noobs: With roughly 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week I am using songs from Ilya’s CD collection. He’s sick right now, so I’m sitting only kind-of next to him, and drinking a stiff Emergen-C cocktail. It tastes like ass but hopefully I won’t get sick. Otherwise I might never get a flu shot again — that thing was supposed to protect me, right? As always, these songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.

This isn’t really relevant for your Sunday Mix Tape. However, in case you don’t know, Bono has become a columnist for the New York Times! Recession, war, the Middle East, these things don’t concern me, what concerns me is the abominable collaboration of Bono+NYT (quote from the column): “I’m in a crush in a Dublin pub around New Year’s. Glasses clinking clicking, clashing crashing in Gaelic revelry: swinging doors, sweethearts falling in and out of the season’s blessings, family feuds subsumed or resumed. Malt joy and ginger despair are all in the queue to be served on this, the quarter-of-a-millennium mark since Arthur Guinness first put velvety blackness in a pint glass.” I can’t wait to see your apocalyptic (if this doesn’t call for the Apocalypse or any other mythological/religious Untergang, I don’t know what does…) rage in writing!
