Harry Pussy – In An Emergency You Can Shit On A Puerto Rican Whore

Now-defunct Miami-based noise band’s first 12″ release on Siltbreeze. It was also known simply as Harry Pussy, but the AKA title is so much more renowned. The band was active throughout the ’90s and featured a guitarist and a drummer. For a while, there was a third musician. I think there was an accordion for a while, too. They’re considered one of the more influential US noise acts, paving the way for Lightning Bolt and others.

Shockingly, the band’s frontman was a woman. A frontwoman who screams and drums! Adris Hoyos, much like ME, is a big jokester who acts differently in real life than in her creative endeavors. That’s why she doesn’t mind screaming and making a cacophony and calling an album, well, In An Emergency You Can Shit On A Puerto Rican Whore. I think this stuff is supposed to be so annoying and so unlistenable that it’s actually a smart commentary about noise music, but I don’t know that for certain so consider that sentence journalistic conjecture.

What’s next, a band with the word AIDS in its title? Oh…wait…
