Burritos And Bourbon On A Tuesday

Oh God, I feel so full. I went to Qdoba with Phoebe for dinner, and we followed that up with a brief jaunt over to 7 Grand where we drank fancy bourbons and pretended we weren’t stupid pieces of shit. I feel like Qdoba and I have been growing apart these past few months. According to my order history (available at the chain’s official website), I’ve only eaten there three times this year. Compare that to 11 times in ‘08 and 29 times in ‘05, and the picture becomes painfully clear. They’re losing my support. Perhaps I’m growing older and more food-conscious (no, that can’t be it). Perhaps I’m just not as aroused by the thought of a Qdoba burrito as I once was. How depressing.

7 Grand has a pretty ridiculous drink menu. Phoebe treated me to a glass of Pappy Van Winkle 15 year 107 proof, and I ordered for her a glass of Glenfiddich 12 year-old Scotch whisky. The Pappy Van Winkle tasted and smelled like maple syrup. The only problem with it was I wanted to savor the syrupy flavor, and the alcohol harshness baffled my tastebuds. Simply because they had Middleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey on their menu, I ordered a taster ($10 for maybe 1/3 of a shot) so that she could taste one of the best bourbons in the world. I got the leftovers, which was barely enough to coat my tongue. Oh man, so good.

In any event, it’s getting kind of late now and I have big plans for tomorrow, so I apologize for phoning in this entry. Trust me, tomorrow will be a better entry. The rest of the week looks pretty solid, as far as blogging topics are concerned.
