World's worst & most overrated composer is Serge Prokofiev. Nowadays you can't get away from the ghastly march of the Montagues & Capulets (sounds as if the talentless Serge is trying to pass a particularly difficult stool). 2nd least favourite is the horribly twee peter & the Wolf. But it's all dire except for one or two very early works (classical symphony, 1st piano concerto, 1st two minutes of the 3rd piano concerto). Most of his stuff sounds like the music they used to break up the scenes in ancient comedy programmes. How can this man regularly be rated the greatest 20th century composer after Stravinsky?

I also noticed the OP loves Schoenberg. Most people who like atonal music are pseudo-intellectual, narrow-minded snobs with no ability to appreciate beauty and emotion in music, so it's no wonder his article is rife with vulgar sexual terms and unfounded accusations. He probably thinks Stockhausen's hellishly ugly and disjunct music is true beauty and true genius, far superior to the lush expressivity of Rachamninov. Stockhausen, as well as the OP, remind me of that artist back in the 1970s that sold eighty tins filled with his own excrement for 10,000 - 20,000 dollars apiece.

Mozart I found to be empty and boring...until I analyzed his music and started to understand the musical vocabulary in his pieces. While his works are anything but deep, they are filled with joy, gentleness and civility, and are very well-organized.

You have to be either heartless, or stupid, or uneducated, or a combination of any of these not to love Chopin and Rachmaninov. The OP's criticisms of Chopin are so vague, ill-defined and downright absurd that they don't even come close to justifying disliking him. Chopin wrote many gloriously beautiful compositions, although I will admit that it's very, very easy to butcher Chopin. You need a masterful pianist to bring out the beauty in his pieces.

As for Rachmaninov, the only "showpiece" he wrote was his 3rd piano concerto - and he wrote this showpiece because he was coming to the USA via boat and needed to assure himself an immediate method of earning money. You can't blame him for that! All the others were very personal and had nothing to do with showing off. The OP must have terrible taste in music if he thinks all of Rachmaninov's pieces are terrible, for many of them are incredibly expressive, rich, lyrical, and harmonious. Rachmaninov wrote some "stinkers", but composers should be judged on their best works, not their worst.

Liszt's music is indeed shallow, flighty, and show-offish. The criticisms the OP leveled against Rachmaninov and Debussy should instead be leveled only against Liszt. Liszt was truly a man-whore; he is thought to have fathered thousands of illegitimate children all across Europe. His music is definitely geared to impressing naive young ladies that confuse speed and virtuosity with true musicianship, and it would make sense that this Casanova would write such drivel so he could continue to get laid.

As for Debussy, his early works were beautiful, but as he got older, his pieces got uglier and uglier, as he was pushing towards a more atonal style. He's the darling of the pseudo-intellectual academics who praise him for inventiveness in this regard, even if what he invented was ugly as shit.

But what makes this whole article vile is the allegation that Brahms was something akin to a pedophile. What evidence do you have of this? Do you have no shame speaking of Brahms as though he were some kind of child rapist? The fact the OP thought of this little nugget of shit makes me think he has some skeletons in his closet.

Just discovered your site, and of course, was simply gobsmacked!

Not that your comments matter, it's sacrilege, and insanity, to make such statements about Mozart, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. Surely, your site is intended as humour.

What's sad is not the stupidity of these ignoramuses posting serious responses to what was obviously intended as a humor article, but the poor sense of humor and childish mind required to write an article with unfunny jokes more repetitive than brahm's Lullaby, and twice as tiresome.
