It stinks that you didn't tell each of those places that what they'd served you came with "something" you hadn't ordered. BUT coincidentally I live in close enough proximity to both those places and will NEVER eat there now. So take comfort in the fact that while you may not have stood up for yourself, you have succeeded in saving another would-be-patron from a similar fate.
