Mssr. Hornet Montana totally changed the operating system on my laptop last night while everyone was engrossed in Pig Hunt. Now I don’t know what’s what anymore. I know that I can officially use Google Chrome now as my web browser, but I don’t know what works and what doesn’t work anymore. Also there’s a little menu on my screen that tells me how much RAM is in use right now. It’s all very new and scary to me. But that’s not the point right now!
Today was the first day of the WFMU Record Fair at Metropolitan Pavilion. I awoke early (again? What kind of vacation is this!) and headed into the city. Thankfully the packages my boss shipped to my mother’s condo in Jersey arrived in good time — and good condition — so we had product to sell at the fair. I met him and some of his partners (dealer friends from the west coast and Europe) outside the Pavilion. We were allowed inside shortly after noon. Setup took about an hour. I know I say this ever year, but I think we bring some of the best records the fair has to offer. There might be dealers with amazing titles, but they usually put insane prices on their inventory. At least with us you know when you pay for a record you are getting top-notch condition.
I don’t know if anyone else at the fair felt the same way today, but the actual product on the floor wasn’t all that impressive. Considering dealers get a head start on the general public, I had a lot of time to walk around the room today and buy vinyl. I only spent about $70 today, plus another $15 in records for other people (I got Mark two American Music Club records). Here’s what I got for myself:
No-Neck Blues Band – Live At Ken’s Electric Lake
Coachwhips – Get Yer Body Nexta Mine
Jeremy Storch – From A Naked Window
Various Artists – I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore
Arab On Radar – Rough Day At The Oriface
The biggest, best record that I passed on and later regretted? A copy of Algorhythms by Charles De Goal, which was priced at $30. The cover wasn’t in great shape and there was a scuff on the disc that concerned me. I later decided that I didn’t care, I just wanted it, and it was too late. Typical.
There were 0 Gail Simmons sightings to report today. But tomorrow is another day. And tomorrow night there is going to be a rather large party held in my honor at a certain New York City watering hole. All of your favorite Sawn Fungus name-checked friends will be there, as will my sister and a group of her closest alcoholic kin. If you want to come buy your favorite blogger a drink, drop me a line and I’ll send you an invitation. It’s sure to be the biggest black out drinking event since that Eagles Monday Night Football game last season when I got dragged out of a local bar at closing and stole a girl’s hoodie in protest. If drinking were a sporting event, I am predicting that tomorrow night would be voted an ESPN Instant Classic!
And if you know Gail Simmons, and if you bring her along with you, I’ll pay you $1,000.

Apologies in advance. I blame the haste and lack of foresight on the local wine (fie, Riesling!). What versions are you running of the two inoperable ones?
What I can do to hemorrhage the bleeding is give you the three iWork programs for your officing in lieu of a properly working office, but not after meals.

lol, nice one Hornet. apple + option + shift + 8 is fun to do when no one’s looking as well. Amateur stuff compared to what you’ve done but still pretty neat none the less.
Also, could you share a couple songs from ‘I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore’? It looks really interesting. And do you know any good resources to find out about Mississippi Records, I tried their website but i couldn’t find much there. Is their discogs page very complete?
Cheers
