The 3rd Annual Swan Fungus Holiday Contest

I awoke this morning to something amazing in my inbox. A reader was inspired by my rendition of The Frowning Prince (by Billy Corgan!) to create her own cover for what she described as “Billy’s next book.” Check out the cover:

As she was inspired by me, I was inspired by her. You guys — I now realize what this year’s annual Swan Fungus Holiday Contest should be: design your own cover for Billy Corgan’s next book. I know it’s a month late, maybe even two months late, but I like rewarding you guys and I like having you interact with me. This seems like the best possible way to combine those interests. I can bribe you into participating in the blog. The way I see it you can take one of two approaches. You can either create your own book title and illustrate it, or you can take a pre-existing text and apply it to Billy Corgan somehow (like the Frowning Prince Photoshop job above). I will post all the entries I receive within the next two weeks (don’t worry, I’ll be sure to pester you all on an almost daily basis with reminders to participate), and the winner will receive a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon. On me. I’m pretty sure this can be open to international customers, but I should probably check first to see if there are any retailers that will ship Buffalo Trace internationally. As Ian said this morning, “That’s a very generous gift.”
