We almost lost it today, folks. In a somewhat-routine updating of the WordPress engine I nearly lost everything I’ve been working on for the past 18 months. If you looked at the page this afternoon you might have wondered, “Why is the most recent post from June 2009?” The answer, as you might have surmised from the heading of this entry, is a combination of MySQL, PHPMyAdmin and WordPress upgrades. I cannot tell you why I needed to change the main database for this website, I can only tell you that in doing so I nearly lost a shit-ton of work. The good news is, everything appears to be working again. The bad news is, almost every single post now contains gibberish characters in certain spots because the character set changed during the upgrade from MySQL 4.0 to MySQL 5.0 and the implementation of PHP5. For those of you without a degree in computer programming, feel free to click over to YouJizz and disregard this blog entry.
Uh… I’ll try to make tomorrow’s post a very good one, but for now I just want to take my eyes off this website and relax for a few minutes. Thanks guys!
