A Song A Day So Far
Back on the 6th I promised I was going to devote a few minutes each day this year to sharing a favorite song of mine on the Swan Fungus Facebook page. So far I’ve managed to uphold my promise. 11 songs have been featured, and those are the tracks that will make up tonight’s mix tape. I don’t intend to pen a wrap-up each week on the blog. I’m hoping that venture and this one will remain separate entities. From time to time I’ll remind you to visit that page, because I think many of you who have been reading this blog for years would enjoy it. A number of the songs might be familiar, but it never hurts to read more about why I like them, right?
Did you have a good holiday weekend? That is, if you happened to have a 3-day weekend. Mine turned out to be rather debauched, which I assure you was not my original intent. I’m not complaining. Friday was a very late but very fun night. Saturday began with an attempt to hide away from the world and stay at home but ended with an invitation that could not be refused. Sunday some beer drinking buddies and I got together to watch the football games. Today I met up with a visiting friend for coffee and then accomplished all the errands and housework I’d intended to accomplish much earlier in the weekend.
Speaking of which, yesterday while drinking (and there was a good amount of drinking done yesterday) we started discussing the then-upcoming Steelers/Chiefs game. Me and another guy started a conversation about Pittsburgh’s offense against KC’s defense. He suggested that KC was going to win the game. I responded that Pittsburgh would win. He – again – commented about how good KC’s defense was. My response? “Doesn’t matter. The Steelers are going to win 24-17.” He asked whether they’d be able to score at will. I said, “No, they’re going to win by kicking eight field goals.” Okay, so they won 18-16 by kicking six field goals. NOT A BAD DRUNK PROGNOSTICATION!
And tonight I’m definitely taking it easy. I made a panini, ate some grapes, drank a beer, and am currently watching the first episode of Taboo. Shit looks good.
