Happy New Years Mix Tape

I think the title just about says it all.

Oh, by the way…I meant to post about this a few weeks ago but the message got lost in my inbox. My good friend and roommate Tom has been producing video content for Stan Lee’s YouTube channel (yes, THAT Stan Lee), and he made two hilarious retro advertisements for comic/literary-related products that I wanted to share and promote. The first is for Stan Lee’s Real Life Hobbit One Ring, and it features (well, both ads do) music composed by my OTHER friend/roommate Adam. The second video is for Stan Lee’s Real Life Bat Belt. There should be more retro ads coming in the future. If I can get Tom to agree to relax his stance on beastiality and children maybe I’ll be able to chip in and help out on one of these.

And now for your New Year’s Eve Mix Tape. Me? I just finished listening to the Tim Hecker/Daniel Lopatin collaboration, Chelsea Wolfe’s ??????????, and Pallbearer’s Sorrow And Extinction. Shit, maybe that record should have been #2 on this year’s Top 100 list. It’s really fucking good.

Although not technically a Sunday Mix Tape, here are the RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. No theme this week. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
