October 3, 2007 Joshua Tree

It was Ilya's birthday. Nicci, Sari and I headed off to Joshua Tree with him to celebrate. Sorry, did I say "Joshua Tree?" I mean "Jorshua Tree."
I didn't take any pictures during the car ride because I was too busy singing. When we got there, we marched around aimlessly for a few minutes looking for a cool place to spend the afternoon.
We eventually found a large rock surrounded by many smaller rocks. It was a little less than half a mile from the road. Here Sari prepares to drink and sleep away the afternoon.
Nicci also rests.
Men climb rock. Women stay at base. It was all very primal. Later, we went out hunting while the women stayed at home and made cave drawings.
Here's the view from halfway up the rock.
Ilya looking like the most dapper rock climber ever.
Here's the view from the tip of the rock.
Those are some rocks.
Those are some girls.
Those two little black specks at the top of the shadow are Ilya and I.
It's amazing what a zoom lens can do...
Because that's a more acurate portrayal of the distance from rock to ground.
Then the sun began to set, if you can imagine that.
Here Ilya chases after the hat that blew off his head. It was windy up there.
The sun set further.
And then darted behind the mountains.

We drove deeper into the park, then turned around and left. It was a good day.

No, wait. It was a great day.

It was a pretty good day.
