August 13 - August 14, 2005 Omaha

The next morning, I headed south on some weird local roads as I navigated towards Mt. Rushmore.
I stopped here to buy some cheap trucker hats for my friends and family members, but I think I ended up keeping them all for myself.
There were bikers everywhere eating breakfast, so I decided that I would not eat anything before starting out on the LONG drive to Omaha.
Does that look like a man who has seen better days, or what? His car could be fucked, he's operating on little sleep, he lost the use of his laptop, and now he hasn't eaten in God knows how many hours.
The black hills, continued.
Mt. Rushmore is so fucking small when you're next to it, it wouldn't surprise me if it was done by a child on some rocks he found in his yard, then someone crazy-glued it to the side of a mountain to create the illusion that it's actually a huge and wonderful accomplishment.
Look at it. It doesn't even take up a large portion of the mountain. It's reserved to some tiny corner.
If you're going to pretend it's some grand monument, can you at least make it a little bigger? It's like looking at a giant canvas containing four red dots in one corner. Who the fuck is going to pay to see that in a gallery? No one.
It was 40 degrees that morning. In the middle of August. Crazy, no?
More black hills.
Jesus dude, is it possible to look like hate the world just a little bit more?
I'm driving along, coming out of this mountainous range, and suddenly I see signs that say "Warning: Large Animal Crossing" or something. I had no idea what these large animals could be. Then there was a sign saying, "Buffalo are Dangerous: DO NOT APPROACH"

Holy fucking shit! Buffalo! I thought they were extinct, but there they were! It was like Field Of Dreams but wasn't as long or as boring!
I was so excited by the buffalo that I took this stupid fucking worthless picture!

Welcome to Nebraska, asshole!

Look at that beautiful Nebraska sky!

That...doesn't look right.

I did not take any pictures in Omaha, but I had a really good time during my one night and one morning there. I went to a local brew pub and sampled a variety of beers, I went to a record store and had a really good breakfast in the Old Market.

All told, I drove for 12 hours that day, and 650 miles. And what do I have to show for it? Just a bunch of pictures of mountains and buffalo and shit. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures of the city. It was really nice, take my word for it.
