August 7 - August 8, 2005 Seattle/Tacoma

This is the path from Eugene to Seattle/Tacoma. It befits the surrounding communities, all of which are indelibly quiet, and filled with sweet, laid back folks.
Along the path, you’re given two options. You can stick to I-5 for the duration, or wander off onto I-205 for 30 miles and head in the direction of The Dalles. As a long-time fan of that classic Apple IIgs video game Oregon Trail, I headed for the Dalles.
This is the Willamette River. I chose to caulk my wagon and float it across. Unfortunately, along the way my wagon sunk and I lost 1 wagon wheel, 200 pounds of food, 3 oxen, and 1 Cunt.

(That's a joke. I used to name the members of my travel party crude words when I played Oregon Trail)
The river was a sight to behold. Waterfalls and locks, the constant lulling sound of rushing water, couples canoodling, and a fat family from Idaho tossing their garbage on the ground.
More beautiful trees lining the interstate once you cross into Washington.
I think that's my first sight of Mount Rainier.
As a child who began to come of age during the grunge movement, I felt obligated to take this picture of the Aberdeen exit.
The state capital building on Olympia.
Totally groovy, totally serene Olympia.
Nestled somewhere between Berkley, Boulder and Burlington, Olympia is fighting for the title of "Crunchiest US City".
Street kids everywhere.
Capitol Theater
Streets of Olympia
More streets of Olympia
I told you these people were crunchy.
Back on the road, I am penalized for making a stop in Olympia by being forced to endure a traffic jam I could have eluded had I remained in my car.
Welcome back to Seattle, Evan.
Our fine city was missing you.
Enjoy this tunnel as you leave town.
Enjoy it twice.
