It was only fitting that I spent the final hours of a whirlwind Vegas adventure seeing my favorite band on the planet perform in a venue as intimate as the House of Blues. Four nights and three days of systematic self-harm and intoxication had taken its toll on me, but seeing Jason Pierce and his band washed all the scum and all the sin away, at least for a couple blissful hours. The crowd was…well, it kind of sucked. Lots more hollering and annoying shouting than I remember hearing at any other Spiritualized gig I’ve seen. Maybe because it was a Friday in Vegas? I don’t know…the crowd just proved to be a bit of a hinderance.

I’d write more but I drove back this morning at 6am after security was called to the neighboring hotel room at 3:30am due to some kind of loud, violent dispute. So I got ABOUT three hours of sleep — on a night I promised myself I would remain sober (and I succeeded) and promised myself I would get more than just an couple hours of sleep — then drove from Vegas to LA and straight into work, where I was completely useless for eight hours. I feel like I’m a stranger in somebody else’s body right now. I need sleep. Real bad.
I’ll wrap up my trip on Monday. Tomorrow will be your regularly-scheduled mix tape. I hope you’ve all had a good week. I’m sure you missed me. I’m home now. I guess.
