Stay At Home: Day 5

Today was way less interesting than any previous days during this “safer at home” initiative. I woke up and had to run exactly one errand this morning, which meant the entire rest of my day was spent trying to keep busy. In between researching songs to use in a future mixtape, I unpacked my giant protein order from Butcher Box, did two loads of laundry, cleaned the dishes, and cooked dinner. After preparing a mix of brown sugar, black pepper, kosher salt, ground cumin, onion salt, ketchup, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce, and hot sauce…I slow-cooked about 2.5 pounds of chicken thighs for four hours. The resulting “pulled chicken” was used to fill tacos, along with mixed veggies, beans, cotija, and avocado. They turned out really good, and there’s plenty of leftover chicken to make sammies with for lunch tomorrow.

Other than that, there isn’t much to report. I’m basically a homemaker now. That’s become my lot in life. I cook and clean, and that’s about it. Except today at around 6:30 pm we had a virtual “happy hour” Facetime double-date with some friends. The chat mostly revolved around how terrifying — and inconvenient — this situation is, and how pathetic we all are by ordering food online instead of going directly to grocery stores and convenience stores.

That’s literally all I have for you today! Maybe tomorrow will provide some kind of spark.

As always, stay healthy and stay safe.
