I almost titled this Sunday Mixtape Number 288. Apparently in my mind I’ve already run the Veas marathon, and it’s late-night Decmeber 2nd and I’m ready to compile a mix tape. Silly me, I’ve still got two weeks to go! Of course, there’s no way in hell I’m going to finish running 26.2 miles and then come back to my hotel room and blog. Fuck that. I’ve been sober for almost six weeks. I’m going to go out on The Strip and drink. I’ve already warned friends and family coming to cheer me on that I’m going to need to hit my favorite 4am cheese fries with gravy spot. Then I can drive back to LA and go to work Monday morning. I’m going to be a complete mess. At least I’ll be a happy mess.
But that’s in two weeks. For now…Mix Tape.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. A customer traded in the first four volumes of the PSF label’s “Tokyo Flashback” series yesterday, so of course one cut from each of the albums is going to be featured tonight. That’s as close to a theme as there is. Enjoy! The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
